It’s Wednesday! Which means we are half way through spring break! Thank you Jesus! Since it’s the last Wednesday of the month I’m linking up with The Larson Lingo, Mix & Match Family, and Sheaffer Told Me To (formerly known as Pinterest Told Me To) to answer these questions…
If you’re a blogger, go to one of the link up pages and share your post there! Or just share your answers in the comments 🙂 Can’t wait to hear from you!
What we’re eating this week
I wish my brain had thought to take pictures of our dinner last night, but I ate it too fast because it was too yummy! Jonathan smoked some pork over the weekend for Easter lunch, and we have a ton of leftovers! So we made smoked pork taco bowls for dinner. Pork, cabbage, red onion, mango, salsa verde, and avocado. Soooo good. It would be good on a tortilla too, but since I’m cutting wheat out this month….no tortilla for me. Whomp whomp.
What I’m reminiscing about
My boys being LITTLE. Even though this was only a year or so ago. How did they get so big already?! Also, check out that two pacifier action. He was obsessed.
And it’s been one year since we moved into our new house, so that’s been on my mind a lot. Thinking how much progress we have made, but also thinking about the fact that our mattress is still on the floor with no bed frame haha!
What I’m loving
This weather! Which means lots of time outside without feeling like I’m going to melt or freeze. There’s such a small window of time for that in Louisiana!
I wish spring was all year long. Or that it wasn’t one million degrees during the summer.
What we’ve been up to
Lots of outside time! Between this weather and it being spring break, outside is our favorite. Keeps us all sane and happy! And keeps mommy from losing her mind by having to be the constant source of entertainment. Cause I’m about ready to tap out after 10 minutes.
I’ve also gotten to take a few family portraits so that’s been fun! There was a long break after Christmas, so it’s good to get some smiling faces back in front of my camera!
What I’m dreading
Summer. Yeah I said it. The heat. Kids home 24/7 because school is out. Sorry (not sorry) if that makes me a bad mom.
What I’m working on
I did this a week or so ago when I needed a break from commissions. Sometimes I need to paint something just because and not because I have to!
What I’m excited about
So many things that are probably embarrassing to be excited about. Like the dust buster I just ordered off of Amazon Prime. Why did I not think about how helpful that thing is?! And my kids can use it! That’s a win. I’m also excited that I reached my running goal of 30 miles in March that Jonathan challenged me to. I haven’t run since before I was pregnant with Porter so this is a big accomplishment!
What I’m watching/reading
If you know me you know I love a TV show. Right now I’m keeping up with a few current shows on Hulu…The Voice, Nashville, Grey’s Anatomy. And Jonathan and I are watching the new season of House of Cards on Netflix, although we have only been doing about an episode a week at night because we are both busy and I’ve been going to bed early like an old lady 😉
Right now I am reading “A Million Little Ways” by Emily Freeman, and so far I am loving it.
It talks about how we are all made to make art since we are made in God’s image and we can use that creativity to bring Him glory. Here’s her description: “You were born to make art. You were made to live art. You might not see yourself as an artist, but you are—in so many unexpected ways. In what you create, whether poetry or pie, sculpture or sand castle, calligraphy or conversation. It’s time to uncover the shape of your soul, turn down the voice of the inner critic, and move into the world with the courage to be who you most deeply are.” So good!! I definitely recommend picking it up!
What I’m listening to
Y’all know I love a podcast, so that’s my main thing lately. I am listening to season 2 of Serial, and also keeping up with The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey. Shay Shull (Mix and Match Mama) is on the show today and it’s so good!!
What I’m wearing
Currently? Workout clothes. Pretty much all the time, because who doesn’t love soft pants? But I did just do some online shopping at Old Navy thanks to the Spring Style Challenge from Get Your Pretty On. You can read all about it in last week’s post here.
Boyfriend jeans, white jeans, floral prints, gold sandals, chambray. Those are the staples right now when I’m not in yoga pants and a t-shirt. And does anyone else’s kid ask where you are going if you aren’t in PJs or yoga pants? I just want to get dressed like an adult, kid. Stop judging me!
What I’m doing this weekend
Friday night we are going to visit Jonathan’s fam for a belated Easter celebration! And Saturday I get to do a newborn portrait session, which is always a good mixture of super sweet and a stressful. Sunday we have church and hanging out at home. Hoping to stay pretty low key!
What I’m looking forward to next month
On the 8th we are having our annual Youth Gala and silent auction event at the church. We’ve been planning it for the last few months so I’m excited for it to finally be here and hopefully raise some good money for our youth ministry! We also have 2 out of town trips. The first is with some friends to Dallas for the Network 220 Conference and the second is a family reunion with my dad’s side of the family. I haven’t seen a lot of them in years, so it should be a lot of fun! It will be so cool for all of our kiddos to meet as well.
What else is new
I feel like I covered most of it! So not much else 😉
What’s my best spring cleaning tip
Well I’m not exactly a cleaning expert, but I do my best! My biggest tip in general is to conquer one room at a time so it doesn’t feel quite as overwhelming as “clean ALL the baseboards in the WHOLE house.” That’s when I just want to quit. I feel like Pinterest has a lot of great charts and lists to help me, too, because sometimes there are things that need to be cleaned that I just forget about…like dusting the ceiling fans.
So that’s it for March’s What’s Up Wednesday! Hope your Wednesday is great, and as always I’d love to hear from you in the comments below!
