On the last Wednesday of each month we answer these questions…
…and other bloggers from across the web all link up and share. It’s a fun way to get to know each other. So fun! Let’s get started!
What we’re eating this week
Last month, my sister and I got together and prepped 40 (!!!) freezer meals (20 for each of us).
It took a little over 3 hours (plus shopping time), but it has been so worth it. So this week I thawed out and cooked some raspberry chipotle pork roast and savory chicken with butternut squash. So yummy. The shopping list and recipes are from $5 Dinners. The plan we used was based on ingredients you could get at Costco.
What I’m reminiscing about
Since we are in the last few weeks of school (saaaaad) I have been reminiscing about their first day in September. They’ve grown so much this year!
What I’m loving
I know, that is a random assortment of things. But I’m a random assortment of a person so just roll with it.
What we’ve been up to
This past weekend we got to go to Dallas with some friends to a conference with a lot of great speakers. They all shared some great messages about our identity in Christ and what it looks like to live that out. Very encouraging and though provoking. Other than that we are just doing our regular day-to-day life, which I’m a-okay with.
What I’m dreading
School’s (about to be) out for summer. (It’s going to feel like) school’s out forever. I hope you were singing that in your head with me. But for reals…so much together-time and scorching heat and humidity coming my way. Sorry (not sorry) for feeling that way.
What I’m working on
I’ve got a few blog posts coming up, including my new cleaning routine, how I organize photos on my computer, and a fun new craft link-up with some other awesome bloggers. That will be out next week! I’m also playing around with the idea of some t-shirts and coffee mugs for moms! So stay tuned for that, or better yet…let me know if you’d be interested in either of those things!!
What I’m excited about
Life! Friendships! I know that’s not too specific, but that’s just where I’m at this week. I’m excited about this blog and the platform I have to share all the randomness I have going on. And I know that whether 5 or 95 people read it, it’s a good and valuable thing because I enjoy doing it!
What I’m watching/reading
Sadly I have not read a single page of a book this month. Don’t judge me please haha. I have been watching my usual shows (Grey’s, Nashville, The Voice). Jonathan and I just finished season 2 of Daredevil on Netflix (really good!), and I’ve been watching The Good Wife. I’m only on episode 4 of season 1, but I like it so far!
What I’m listening to
You know it’s going to be some podcasts. If you are reading this and are still wondering what a podcast is…go listen to one. For reals. There’s a podcast app on your iPhone. I rotate between The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey, The Popcast, Marriage More, and this week I listened to Hope Writers. I even got a shout out on the Marriage More podcast last week for leaving a review. So fun!
What I’m wearing
Workout clothes…no need to change out of soft pants when you are mostly at home or Target, right? I have been participating in Chambray Tuesday with The Chic Site just for fun and to force myself to wear a real bra instead of a sports bra and t-shirt #truth. Basically you just wear some chambray on Tuesdays. Check out #ChicTribe on Instagram to see how everyone styles theirs! I’m also wearing my super cute new necklace from Of The Earth Jewelry that I shared about on Friday.
What I’m doing this weekend
We are heading to a family reunion! My dad’s side of the family is getting together. We haven’t had an official reunion since I was about 14 years old, so it will be great to see everyone all together. We will be missing a few people, but it will be a fun group. Especially our kids getting to meet my cousin’s kids!
What I’m looking forward to next month
Mother’s Day! Our 8th wedding anniversary! A weekend out of town! So many things.
What else is new
Next Monday I am starting a 2 week sugar detox. I don’t know if I’m dreading or looking forward to it. Probably a combo of both. I know my body needs it, and I need the accountability of “rules”. I’ll let y’all know how it goes!
Bonus: What’s my favorite Mother’s Day gift to give or receive?
I like a gift that makes the receiver feel special. I think for Mother’s Day a great gift is something you wouldn’t normally get or do for yourself. Like some jewelry, or a day at the spa. Moms generally have a pretty thankless job, so something that really honors them and validates them is good!
And if you don’t have a blog, you should start one! Here* is a great resource of info to help you get started.
