my health and fitness journey

Hey sweet friends! I wanted to share with y’all what’s been going on in my life, and what I’ve been able to learn and accomplish the last few months as it pertains to my health and fitness journey.

Let me start at the beginning.

Growing up I was never someone who struggled with weight. I was always the tallest of my friends, and staying involved in dance kept me lean. I was a bean pole at nearly 6 feet tall and weighing close to 120 pounds at the beginning of high school. I had the nickname “skinny minny”! Fast forward a few years, my activity level had dropped, I was eating like a typical college kid, and weight I didn’t used to have started to pack on. I still looked thin due to my height, but I knew that I wasn’t as healthy as I could be. I exercised off and on, especially in the months leading up to my wedding, but it was never a commitment or something that came easily. I definitely wasn’t eating well either! Then came married life, and any weight I may have lost through college was back, plus some more!! Then I got pregnant with Evan. I was not active or eating well throughout my pregnancy and gained about 40 pounds.

2 weeks after having Evan…sleepy and a little puffy 😉

A year after I had him I was back at the weight I was before I was pregnant, minus about 5 more pounds. I did this through counting calories and working out about 3 times a week. After this point I began educating myself about the types of food I was eating, and made the decision to cut out processed foods. The feeling in my body was great!! I was amazed at how much better I felt eating this way.

Mother’s Day 2013, right before getting pregnant with Porter

I was able to stay on that path of healthy eating for the most part throughout my pregnancy with Porter. I was also more active this time around, although I gained about the same amount of weight in the long run. Go figure!

2 weeks after having Porter….sleepy and puffy again! 😉
So here I am now. On the path to “lose the baby weight” again. But more than that, I want to be healthy, fit and strong!! I’ve got 2 little boys and a husband to keep up with now! I want to be the best I can be for me and for them. I have spent the last few months eating the best I’ve ever eaten, not stressing about calories, and exercising 5-6 times a week doing workouts I actually like! The changes I’m seeing and feeling are so exciting!! I am amazed at how quickly I am seeing the changes as well.
Here is my progress from the first “30 day challenge” I did with my coach a couple of months ago.
(Sorry about the weird shadow in the after shots)
In 30 days I was able to lose 5 pounds and 12.5 inches! So exciting! I feel like I can really see it through my midsection and hips.
And here is where I’m at now:
P.S. I hate taking “selfies”…but love seeing my progress!
Obviously, I still have a long way to go to be where I want to be. But I now have the tools and knowledge to get me there!!! These results are thanks to accountability and encouragement from others, eating clean, drinking my shakeology, and exercising consistently 5-6 times a week.
I would LOVE to help you and encourage you if you are on the same journey as me, or if you don’t know where to start! In a few weeks on June 23, I will be hosting my first 30 day challenge, just like the one I did. If you feel like you would benefit from accountability, daily health and fitness info, along with some encouragement from me and others just like usshoot me an email and I can send you some info! If you aren’t ready for a challenge just yet but would still like some advice or encouragement let me know! We are in this together!
