Life lately // What’s Up Wednesday

Hey friends! Sorry for staying away for so long…again! Life has a funny way of doing that to you. I figured today would be a great day to give an update on life lately! It’s another What’s Up Wednesday post, where on the last Wednesday of the month I link up with The Larson Lingo, Mix & Match Mama (who has a gorgeous new site!), and Sheaffer Told Me To. We are all answering these questions! So let’s jump right in.

What we’re eating this week

We are freezer meal-ing it up right now! My sister and I prepped 20 freezer meals a couple of months ago, and I recently went to a Wildtree freezer meal prep “party”…so this week we are having some of each of those. One freezer meal will generally last us half a week, so I can get away with only “cooking” 2 nights a week…if throwing a bag in the crockpot counts as cooking.

What I’m reminiscing about

Always my littles and how little they used to be…

What I’m loving

For the most part, I’m loving hanging with the boys this summer. They’re a lot of fun. Exhausting, and I love when they go to sleep. But they’re pretty fun to be around!

What we’ve been up to

Not a lot and a lot all at the same time. Does that make sense? There hasn’t been anything big on our calendar, but life always feels busy with small kids. Potty training has been the most time consuming thing lately.

We are on week 2. God bless it. He’s got the #1 part down. #2 seems to be terrifying. Praying that happens soon.

We got some chickens! So that’s been fun. It’s nice having fresh eggs everyday. We got 5 from Jonathan’s parents, and then 15 more baby chicks! So yes…20 chickens. We are chicken people. Bless.

What I’m dreading

More weeks/days of potty training to come. I can only beg someone to poop in the potty so many more times before I pull my hair out…#thistooshallpass #thetimeandthepoop

What I’m working on

Painting and a few photo sessions. You can check out my latest photo sessions here. And here are my most recent painting commissions.

My schedule has opened back up to take on some new commission work, so let me know if you need something for your walls! Here’s my Facebook page where I regularly post updates my work.

What I’m excited about

I’m excited about Jonathan being off of work on Monday! And I’m excited about some other fun life things we have going on. I’ll be sharing more about that soon 🙂

What I’m watching/reading

Watching? The Bachelorette. Don’t judge me. It’s so addictive. I’ve also been binge-watching The Good Wife. Currently on season 4. I love it! I’m open to any other TV suggestions. I need something to get me through the summer. I’m so looking forward to the new Gilmore Girls this fall. Anyone else??

My reading list is WAY too long. Here’s the stack next to my bed. I need a month off to finish all of these.

I’ve got another stack of novels on the book shelf, a book I’m reading on my kindle app, and a to-read list on my phone that is also way too long. So does anyone have any more book recommendations for me? Ha!

What I’m listening to

Besides my kids whining about all.the.things? Kiddddding. I’m always listening to my favorite podcasts when I have time in the van alone (The Popcast, Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey, and Marriage More).

What I’m wearing

The least amount possible that’s still acceptable in public. Cause it’s HOT. We are at home a lot of days so that means stretchy shorts and tank tops. The glamorous life of a stay at home mom, y’all.

What I’m doing this weekend

Friday night is pedicures and dinner with my sister and mom to celebrate my mom’s birthday. I cannot wait! And Sunday we are hanging with friends and going to a 4th of July parade with the kiddos.

What I’m looking forward to next month

Evan has a little art camp next week so I’m looking forward to that. It will be a short break and time with just Porter. Then we have VBS at the church. Evan gets to participate, and I’m volunteering. It’s always a fun week! I’m also looking forward to summer being one month closer to being over! I’m done with this heat, y’all.

What else is new

Please excuse the above. Evan wanted to practice his typing. Jonathan told him my middle name was “ga” because “Christine” was too long to spell. He seemed ok with it.

That’s about all that’s new with us! I’d love to hear what’s up with you in the comments! Or link up your own post with the hosts in the links at the top! Thanks for reading through this little life update. Hoping to post more regularly again in the weeks to come, so stay tuned!

  • danielle - I just stumble upon your blog with the What’s Up Wednesday link-up and OMG. I have so much house/chicken envy 😉 I have wanted chickens for years but unfortunately our HOA forbids it. For now I will dream of the day we can move to a sizable piece of land and grow an apple orchard (my husband’s dream) and I can finally have bees and chickens!ReplyCancel

    • Hannah // Lugimom - Thanks so much for checking out my post! I am laughing because my husband has planted every kind of fruit tree imaginable that could possibly grow in our Louisiana climate! Sounds like we are kindred spirits!! We have been talking about having chickens since we were dating 10 years ago. Love that it finally happened! Hope you get yours soon 🙂ReplyCancel

      • danielle - That is too funny! My husband’s main focus is apple varieties and he just got his first three this year, so we won’t see fruit from them for another 3-5. We also planted raspberry, strawberry, and blueberry bushes which are starting to bear fruit and our kiddos LOVE it. If I can’t have the chickens at the least I will have the garden!ReplyCancel

  • Amanda - Last summer I was potty training – you’re right – this too shall pass! Love your art work! I wish I had that talent. Pedicures and dinner sounds just lovely. Have a fabulous July!ReplyCancel

    • Hannah // Lugimom - Thanks girl!! Constantly reminding myself that my 4 year old can independently use the bathroom, and the 2 year old won’t go to college in diapers haha. We will survive!ReplyCancel
